Paulo Lopes is a Portuguese rider who lives on the Spanish border in Galicia.
At 13 years old, he received the call of the ocean. It was the 90’s and bodyboarding exploded in Portugal. Paolo lived, slept, and ate depending on the waves, at a time when there was no internet and riders waited tireless for the next issue of BB magazine or Vert Mag to come out.
For years and years Paolo devoted himself to his sport, becoming regional-, university-, and Junior champion as well as Top 16 in national, European, and World championships.
Things all came to a crashing halt when he discovered SUP in 2011 and got sucked in soon after.
Paolo competes in numerous local, national, and international long-distance competitions, but his favorite disciplines are downwinders and ultra-distance events like the Sup11 Cities (220Km).
